My cell contract expires next week. The shiny (well, not quite as shiny as the first gen) iPhone 3G goes on sale a few days later and I’m thinking of taking the plunge.

But the biggest roadblock, to me, is that it seems like overkill for my needs. My job keeps me tied to the internet for 8+ hours a day, and I probably spend an hour or two browsing at home, too. I have the internet at my beck and call pretty much any time I’m not biking, shopping or out socializing.

So is it really that useful? Will I find myself google-searching all sorts of random info? Will I be totally and hopelessly addicted to portable internet within a matter of days? hours? Or will I loathing the day I turned my $45 cell phone bill into a $70 one?
